I am a political scientist with a focus on Political Participation, Direct Democracy, and Political Psychology. Currently I am a Research Associate at the Department of Justice and Home Affairs of the Canton of Zurich, Switzerland, and a lecturer in Political Science at the University of Zurich. I hold a PhD from the European University Institute in Florence. In my research, I study citizen competence, public opinion and political decision-making, in direct democratic and electoral settings. More specifically, I am interested in citizens’ political knowledge, motivated reasoning, the functioning of elite-cues versus policy-arguments and deliberation in decision-making, integrative complexity of political thinking, as well as the link between deliberative and direct democracy.
